Hi folk,
A guest at our B&B here in Picton last year, and who has stayed in touch, sent me an email and I am copying the following sentence from it:
'Ian did you try any new beers .i have been thinking of a micro brew pub in india can you please help me get in touch with a good microbrewery who can help me put up a brewpub here and get me a good brewmaster too.'
I am trying to ascertain just how keen this guy is, but it seems to be a genuine enquiry. I wondered whether any of you good brewing folk (esp. perhaps Joking and Stu McKinley etc.) would have some advice I could pass on to this man as to where he should begin? Anyone fancy a brewing adventure in India!?

Like anywhere that has millions of not so rich, there is bound to be a large upper class of people who are able to afford better versions of what the poor people drink...
It is certainly warm enough and there are enough people there to support good beer! Their IPA might be more indian than most??
Hey, I know of a micro-brewery that is up and running well in Bolivia... I would think the Indian market is likely to be bigger than the Bolivian one!
Seems to be working for Brewdog, in a much smaller nation of people who love a bragain.
Although in my experience there is no ethnic group cheaper than kiwis!
My very serious Zoological advise is to beware young bachelor elephants. They love beer and can smell a brew day for miles . Rural breweries with poor security get rolled because they want a beer, and they are elephants. Quite a lot of young trunky boozers get shot also, thats the stink bit in the story. They seem to really like the taste of malted liquor
