lol, one step ahead of you, they bring them in made up apparantly :o( Mike doesnt list it either.. Stu - any chance youll be getting some in the future?
Get down to the garden centre and buy a 5 litre bag of Peat ... throw 100gm each of peat & pale malt in a bag, toss to combine, seal and leave overnight ...
Got to be worth a go, I mean people toast and smoke their own malts, right ?
Do you just chuck it in a bag with the peat? I thought it was peat smoked? I didnt realise you could get it at the garden place, could be an interesting experiment.. Allthough ive never smoked anything before..
I have absolutely no idea and perhaps this shouldn't be considered.
Soil (and I presume peat) does contain a lot of unhealthy organisms that can cause you problems if inhaled - hence warnings on bags of compost, potting mix etc
It is peat smoked. Peat sponaneosly combusts over there, but it doesn't burn like an open fire - it vents out of the ground in a ploom of smoke. These are at the peat moors. You could stick some peat in a tin can, put a soldering iron in it - in the bottom of your BBQ with your malt in a sieve on top, shut the lid and leave it for a few hours.
Works a treat - I did my own malt like this... I have 2 KG of it - you should have said something when you were here, dog.
