I have used the odd macs one here and there but they definitely seem thinner glass than the Moa ones for sure. Have had no explosions with the macs ones bottle carbing with standard ale C02 volumes.
Asashi glass tends to be the thickest and darkest I have come across however the thicker glass tends to mean a smaller neck ID so hard to get bottle brush down the neck.
From memory NHC will not accept Macs bottles due to them being notorious for exploding (rule 4.2 https://nhc.soba.org.nz/pages/rules)
Most typical NZ craft brewery 500ml bottles are good.
Yep - NHc stopped alowingthem because they had a few crack open atthe very visible seams.
Check your Grosch bottles - they might not be 500ml - mine are 465ml.
Also remember the possibility of light strike with the green glass...
The old swing top sawmill ones are good - fortunately they are no longer doing them.
Cheers
Rhys
Before I kegged I used the 500ml Emerson's bottles. Drank a lot of pilsner and ipa to get 50 odd bottles. They're a really nice size being a decent volume and quite short so you can fit them easily into fridge shelves unlike long necks.
If you're near Wellington I no longer need them and was meaning to flick via trademe but have been too lazy.
