Looking for a recipe for a blonde ale or similar. Thinking about 50% pilsner, 30% MO, 20%wheat or something? Looking for light colour, around 4-5% ABV, not too hoppy, just a refreshing quaffer for summer. Any ideas? Will be fermenting at around 19-20 with US05 probably.
Bottled the blonde ale today. It went from 1.040 to 1.006 so I make it ~4.4%ABV. The clearer wort resulted in me getting 29 750ml bottles this time which is a great improvement over the 25 bottles I got out of the last brew. The sample tasted lovely, I think this one will condition in no time :) Cheers again for the recipe James!
Well, the Blonde Ale went down a treat over summer, took 2 crates of it down to Papamoa and me and my bro-in-law killed it all off in 7 days, along with the rest of the Nelson Sauvin Summer Ale. So I am now officially out of home brew!
I bottled the scottish amber today, and I am going to brew the blonde ale again later in the week. I want to make it slightly hoppier, I have 60g of NZ cascade left (7.2%AA), and also 20g of Imperial Fuggles (4.2% AA). What do you think I should use? I was thinking of 30g cascade @60, 20g cascade @15, and 10g cascade at flame out. Not sure if I will use the fuggles. Maybe I could use the fuggles at 60 for bittering and add all the cascade later in the boil...
