What the hell is Sorachi Andrew??

Sorachi Ace a Japanese hop. Brew Dog use it, I believe. I've heard about it, but not heard of any getting to NZ - where'd ya get mate??

Lets just say I've got friends's who've got friends.Lol. I tried to get some through homebrew shops in the states but they only have whole cone and couldn't import. To be honest they sound a bit like Pacific Jade but I"ll give them a go.

Oh yeah, Don't even know what they smell like. 11.2% Alpha but they're vacuum packed and I don't wanna open them until I,m weighing them up so hopefully they're not rough!

Just sampled the FV this morning, these Sorachi Ace smell pretty good. Really lemony and seem to be smelling good with the Motueka as well. Best part of a week left in FV then its 160g's in the secondary!

How did your brew day go Andrew?

Went fine. Got excited and started early so I was pretty much rapped up by 2:30. Only second brew so still figuring the efficiency of my system so the gravity is lower than expected. It should still top the 6.5% hopefully.

Nothing beery on the go this morning - but the HLT (15 litre warehouse pot) has a double batch of tamarillo chutney just come to the boil.
She's a two hour boil and needs a good eye and stirring to keep it from burning.

Could be another lager next week though

What results

The usual comment is not to repitch a dried yeast, the risk vs cost isn't worth it ?

Cost doesn't worry me so much, convenience is more the thing. I haven't had bad results with it, as long as you repitch within a week. Same for S04 - gets better with age S04 I reckon. About brew 3 is pretty good.
