Its a fantastic method Im waiting for another Keg to turn up Trade me in Wellington so I can Buy it and turn it into a perment HLT with an Element and a Temp Contoler, at the moment my HLT doubles up as a Kettle for bigger batches.
OG 1.040 IBU 24 - 12 of Super Alpha @ 60 and 12 IBU Hallertau later in the boil
I'm dropping the Munich - purely because I don't have any at the moment. I'd bought an extra sack of ADM in the baby sale and foolishly justified "so I won't have to buy anymore grain until May"
Do you reckon I should up the Caramalt slightly for the lack of Munich - normally 10-15% ?
Double brew this weekend, I am in desperate need of some Hops, craving in fact!!! Im thinking I may even speed the process up for one of em and dry hop in the keg? What do you reckon?
Cascade APA
3.5kg Global Pils
500g Munich
150g Medium Crystal
150g Cara-Munich II
60 : 10g US Cascade 5.8%
20 : 15g Cascade
10 : 15g Cascade
5 : 10g Cascade
FO : 15g Cascade
Dry hop : 35g Cascade (maybe dry hopped in the keg?)
And the other one is the Southern cross/cascade pale ale from the recipe advice thread..
Dont waste that beautiful US Cascade at 60mins in the boil! Do me a favor, and replace is with some Southern Cross and chuck that 10 grams in the Dry Hop please!
It's Savage because of the high amount of Cohumulone in there - some say a myth... but I reckon not. It is the "sandy" "gritty" type of bitterness... do you know what I mean? I go for 25% cohumulone or less as a rule of thumb, and Cascade is around 40%
Up 2 you though... 10 grams will probably not be so noticable.
