Ok, so What Are You Brewing was a hotty, as topics go.

Now I'm 15 pints into a keg I only filled on Tuesday and wondering if anyone else has a favourite at the moment ?

It's my second brown with US-Oh05 and it's better than the forst, maybe Ikept the temps down a bit during the scorcher we had in januray

completely agree, mac's is certainly not the rebel it used to be (and that they still like to portray) but I did think brewjolais was great. and if find myself in a place with no other choice, sassy red is what I will grab, by far the best non craft in the country..
Had no other choice yesterday in the beer desert that is Whangamata - not even any Sassy Red. Went for Hoprocker and was actually pleasantly surprised. Far better than the neighbours Heineken!
Whanagamata, when I was there last April there was a very Emersons passionate restraunt bar owner I think it was the Italian one by the rounderbout by heading towards the harbour.
ooh, nice tip. will check that out. I suspect the local restaurants change hands fairly regularly.
I dont think he had any plans to change he had big plans for Emersons in Whaga, I only happend to stumble across the place on the last night I was there a just happend to glance a look in the place and happend to see the bottles in the fridge and Emersons Pils on tap!! What an Idiot!!
pils on tap!!!!!!! fucking hell say no more!
Yeah prior to that I could only find Harringtons.
we used to send beer to a place called Nero's in whangamata. they havent ordered anything for a while but they may still have other good beer...
Thats the place
Maybe so, but remember, you are talking about Heineken. This is pure water in flavour. Every trip I made to Holland, ol' no flavour Heineken was everywhere.
When I'm stuck for a decent beer, which is more often then it should be, Sassy Red and Hop rocker are passable. you know they have been shown more then just a picture of a hop. I certainly rate them over the "premium lagers" and Montieths is not even close.

I found an old Macs beer glass in the Op Shop the other day, logoed like it was back when it was an independant brewery in Nelson, it got me all nostalgic and I bought it.
I don't get too nostalgic for Mac's beers of old. I remember them and they weren't that great. Clean but not all that flavoursome. there's a few gems in the back catalogue - Hop Harvest Pilsner, Wicked Blonde - but the pre-Lion brews weren't all that they are sometimes cracked up to be.
