Thought it would be cool to have a recipe thread for the case swap so we all know what were expecting... Im doing a batch next weekend, still unsure what I will do yet... But,

Im thinking of using this one as I tried it last night and it was very interesting :o)

1kg Maris Otter
1kg Pilsner
1kg Munich
500g Weyermann Smoked
300g Cara Wheat
100g Cara Munich II
200g Cara Hell

60 min : 15g Southern Cross 13%
15 min : 15g Amarillo 8.4%, 10g Williamette 7.5%
5 min : 15g Amarillo, 8g Williamette
Flame out : 12g Amarillo

Used US-05 yeast, final volume 22 litres, OG of 1037 and FG of 1010, alc 4% on the dot

This had a superb Amarillo hop aroma bursting out of the glass, followed by a smooth maltiness and an awesome slight smokiness to the bitter finish which really compliments the earthiness of the Williamette hops... So yeah, was really happy with this one :o)

Be really interested in how this holds up in transit, reviled reckoned his was OK - it lived in my fridge from bottling 'til delivery so never got a chance to warm up. I bombed out in the NHC this year with beers that were tasting fine at my place constantly refrigerated.

I have some tasting notes for reviled's beers, haven't posted yet as I don't want to steer your tasting of it.
How about sending via email first to the respective brewer first, then they can post their results when we all have had our teasers?
Hi Baz,

Well, it looks like I got the dud. The bottle looked like it was melted at the lip. Still, it was a really nice beer, nice hop aroma, brilliant clarity.

OK, I've written a bit more on Reviled's so I think it's fair to go into some more depth.

The colour was superb, The goldings were the standout hop, from the first glug you could tell they were the domminant hop flavour and the malt was nicely balanced, it let the goldings control the show.

I suppose the best compliment I could give it is that I could easily have settled into a session of 5-6 of these tonight.

Good show bro
You got the dud? does that mean the carbonation didn't hold up?
Damn those plastic bottles...

I got all the South Island beers last night, damn I'm looking forward to sampling them. The labels, thats above and beyond the call of duty! Might have to do the same for next time.

And, next time, I will redeem myself completely. I feel pretty guilty that I received the full compliment when I only sent out 1 beer. Next time you'll all get whatever the swap is, plus an extra (or even two if I have enough beer).

This was awesome. More often next year eh?
Cheers.
Yeah man, it was a physical failing on the bottle. It looked like the lip had melted. Not to worry though, it still held up pretty well.

Definitely agree with the calls for more next year. I reckon we should start looking at a date now!

haha, yeah, the labels are pretty awesome from the Drunken Pope
