Ok - so this might seem a little weird and PC by my usual standards but in team meetings at work I encourage people to give a quick "barometer" check of their week to see how they are going. It helps people crystallize their thoughts into the essential things that are going on. So I thought I would try it here on the forum.
There are only 3 rules:
1. You must provide an answer when asked as you would in a team meeting at work - if you are lucky enough ;-) (volunteer out of turn - it's fine on a forum);
2. You may have as many highs for the week as you can reasonably think of but at least one is compulsory; and
3. You may have a maximum of only 1 low for the week.

So what are my items this week? Glad you asked....

Highs:
1. California Lager yeast (Wyeast 2112) - wow, just loving it and the fact that beers take so little time to condition up!
2. Quick disconnects for my gas on my corny kegging system - how did I live before hand. If people want to get you a cheap but valuable present for birthday/father's day/any other reason then get them to buy you a QD's for less than $35.

Low:
1. Promising 15L of beer to a friend on Friday 30th May and knowing that you don't have a hope in hell as it's that good it won't last that long! ;-)

Shit congrats Stu, thats a bloody good result!

I might have to try Pinks RIS again, I was quite harsh on it when I tried it about a year and a half ago, but to be fair I thought Stella Artois and Heineken were good a year and a half ago :oP lol
Had 4 pints of Emersons Pale Ryeder last night, and I had mixed emotions about it, if all wheat beers were like this id drink more wheaty's, but in saying that I probably wouldnt buy it again.. It had a good rye aroma and flavour, but there was no other malt aroma which sort of made the rye smell yucky.. Taste was fairly clean and it was pretty easy drinking. The thing that really disappointed me was the lack of an oily mouthfeel which I seem to have got with rye - something ive really grown fond of also!

Highlight was definately the 'rigger'!! These things are like moonshine jugs... Awesome!!
High #1 Ellerslie Beer Festival- met some great people inbetween all the Jafas who were intent on just drinking lager.

High #2 Finding out that the Airport Flyer bus picks up outside Galbraiths every 15 mins.

High #3 Using the extra Galbraiths time to pick up a couple of riggers to take back to Welly

Low #1 Ellerslie Beer Festival - all the Jafas who were intent on just drinking lager- However many were also keen on other brews too....

Low #2 Running out of time at Galbraiths
Week ending 20th March:

High 1: Receiving delivery of my first brew kettle. Enough said.

Low: I am training for a marathon at the moment, so getting home from training and being to cream crackered to drink a beer (this doesn't happen offen).

High 2: Running past Lion Nathan on Kypher Pass (during low - see above) . Despite what many think of their beers, on brew day the sheer size and smell is just sensational (spent the next 2 hours dreaming of brewing and drinking beer).
High Lights

1) My US Beer

2) Drinking 1 of my US Beers

LOW!!

1) Being one less down now!! sad face........
Any chance you might...

say....

I don't know, quite how to ask...

Bring some with you to New Plymouth.........?

Maybe?
Thats a High!!!

Got to spread the love...........
I know cycling is not as hardcore as running but TheGrandMaster and I did the Taupo Cycle Challenge Enduro late last year and daily pints of beer were an a very important part of our training schedule. The nutrients are so important. After the ride we had a few pints of my trial version of Kid Chocolate and then, with dinner, I had a Chimay Cinq Cents with dinner before crawling into bed (I think Sam had a London Special).
BJCP sum it up nicely: A light-flavored, malt-accented beer that is readily suited to drinking in quantity. Refreshing, yet flavorful.

Apparently you can set up little beer engines on your handlebars - but you get shot by CAMRA members if you put a sparkler on ;-)
Well I'm still sponsorless for race day (The Dual) , happy to brand up with Yeastie Boys or whatever, and stout definitely replaces the calories I am burning during training, but am not sure about putting Kid Chocolate in my camelbak.
If you wear a shirt on the day, I'd be happy to send you one (be warned - it is pot kettle black!).
