Just bought this electronic thermostat....

On the cheap of course. Its a DLE-RD12-010 Electronic thermostat $13.00.

Now from reading the instructions it seems that I should be able to rig this up to control the temp of a small beer fridge but not completely certain how.

Heres the wiring bit of the instruction manual....

So I think I cut the plug for the fridge, attach the plug end to 3 & 5 (Power supply for DLE), the fridge end to 1 & 2 (load) and the little probe thingy that came with it to 8 & 9.

Now it says the contact capacity is 10amp./240 VAC or 14 AMp/125 VAC. What does this mean? Will my little fridge fry the contacts?

The power supply voltage is AC210-220V 50/60khz.

Anyone got any idea?

I'm not a sparky, so anything after this is complete bollocks..... but if you check the amps needed from your fridge first to see it comes in under 10A (which is about 2400W).

Don't cut your fridge plug, get an extension cord and cut that. Wire "live" end of plug (with the male plug) into 3&5, with earth wired straight to female end of extension cord. Wire female load and neutral in to 1&2. Plug your fridge into the extension cord.

Use an RCD! :)
You have the RD model which is 10amp @ 240 VAC.
aaah yes, extension cord. Genius
I'd get a sparky to wire it up if I were you. I'm pretty sure your description of how to wire it up is incorrect. 240V can be lethal if you mess it up, its not worth the risk just to save a few $ IMO.

The good news is the relay will be fine, your fridge won't draw more than 10A under load.
True, would be a bit shit to burn the house down, or worse, not ferment my beer at the right temp.
Agree re get a sparky, however my read on it is that you use the device to switch the live/phase/red/brown side of the power to the fridge. So you run the live side of your power supply to 1, and then a red/live wire from 2 to the fridge ("load"). You run the nuetral/blue/black wire from your power supply direct to the fridge and ditto with the earth. You also ned to run the live/red power wire to 3 and the neutral/black/blue to 5 to power up the thermostat device.

Have attached a rough diagram, sorry if its hard to read, can do a better one tomorrow at work where I have a scanner (this is a photo of a scribble!) It shows the wiring going to the fridge via socket.

I am not qualified at all to give this information, so be really careful, or better still, get a sparky! A house fire would set your brewing schedule back by at least a week.
