Bottled the Nelson Sauvin Summer Ale after work. Got 25 750ml glass bottles out of it. No real dramas, some trub got jammed in the bottling valve so it was leaking a bit which was a hassle, some beer ended up on the garage floor!

Brewing James blond ale recipe on Sunday morning, looking forward to building up a bit of a stockpile.

Anyone got any empty crates they want to sell?

I don't have any to get rid of at the moment. But I've found that a lot of bottle shops will 'lend' you the bottles if you pay the deposit.
Good to know - I am thoroughly sick of 4% piss-water after working my way thru 5 crates of the stuff in the las month or so! Tried Tui, Export, Speights, and Waikato.

Tui was probably the least offensive, at least you can taste it.
Ouch!

Yeah I think I got like 6 swappa crates a 6 bucks a pop - cheap bottles.

Just tell them you're making ginger beer, not that they usually care as long as they have their deposit.
What an effort - shows true dedication to your homebrew. I stuck to Tui when I got my crates.
That is impressive.

Personally, I tried Tui, and I honestly gagged. It just does not want to stay down.

I suppose Waikato is marginally better though. That is how I managed to get 2 crates, then mates gave me about 5 crates, and I bought some plastic bottles. Oddly enough, I am running out of bottles again. Perhaps I need to drink more?
'Fraid so, it is a sacrifice you may have to make. Let me know if you need a hand, I is an expert.
Down here in Christchurch we are lucky to have a recycling depot that seems to get bottles in all the time. Depending on who you get $2~$5 a crate.
