Auckland Brewers- yeast sharing.

Hi Guys

as some of you already know, I have offered some Wyeast California lager yeast, as a starter. I was thinking, why don't we communicate more and share more of our yeasts or anything we can for that matter? I only use liquid yeasts and sometimes I can't use it again or I can't keep it. It's a shame to let it go. I am more than happy to give some up as a starter. I have not had much luck at culturing or keeping it. There are quite a few of us who live in close proximity, perhaps we could use this to offer what we don't need, on a share/swap basis? The receiver would be responsible for pick up and it could be could chance to share a beer and chat?

Any thoughts?

Hi mate. I'd be down for this, I have some Wyeast 1056 at the moment and I'm working on setting up a little bank. Anybody else keen to trade a few vials?

Hi Reuben,

I now have 3 yeasts in storage: bohemian pilsner, West yorkshire ale and Ringwoods ale. I have followed a fairly simple storage regimen, so I cannot speak for the efficacy of the yeasts now. But I am more then willing to share them around

Cool cheers Tony, I'm probably the same, more or less followed the instructions for freezing yeast under "The Library" category on this forum. If you need some 1056, I'd likewise be happy to share. I'll let ya know when I come up with a recipe for one of your yeast.
