That was an awesome buzz last night regarding the US Beer on Beerstore...

Whats this all about??? Not what I signed up for!!! I thought this site was about a bunch of beer lovers rambling about the one thing they love. Not about lining the pockets of someone. I for one am ashamed and I should probably check my facts before I write this but im not! Im sure one of the leading if not the leading craftbrewers in the country built his brand on the web through none pay sites??? correct me if im wrong please!!! please!!
Hrmmmmm no need to get angsty. There is plenty of obvious attempts at free advertising all over this website.

User initiated discussion such as "What are you drinking" and "Whats on tap where" is the sharing of free information, or generation of conversation. Retailers using the forum to sell their product is a different story.

I still commend and love the shit out of beerstore.

Getting back to it - I started this thread. Simply, it's the same as "what are you drinking" etc. If I had something beer related to sell, I would approach the administrator of this beer website to talk about how I can advertise my product on this heavily trafficked website (by beer enthusiasts).

Luckily I have nothing to sell.

Have a look at the SOBA newsletter and ask the advertisers on there how much it cost to advertise on that media. This website is no different.
Are you having a grumpy night Luke? Come on! Mad props to Daniel for getting this stuff in. Mad props to you for having this forum up. What sort of love did you want? Daniel: I suggest getting a youtube vid up forthwith, with Armageddon It playing in the background, and drinking said IPA! ;)
its about people that come in and take advantage of the community here, and don't give back proportionately.

i'd be the first to agree we now have access to a great many beers from the US we were unlikely to see before.

but these beers wouldn't have come into the country if the person hadn't accessed this community, asking what beers people wanted and asked how much they were prepared to pay.

as Joking said he wouldn't have known about beerstore outside of having seen it on the forums.

how much business comes from the realbeer community

and it isn't about the money. it is about the time and effort that has gone into getting to this point, and someone coming along and identifying the value of this community, and taking advantage of that.

you know it wouldn't take much to give a little back, even maybe favouring some promotion of a certain beer brand on the website, or sending a few awesome beers. show some appreciation.

might even build a positive relationship that could lead to an exclusive offer of something like some unpasteurized Epic Armageddon fresh off the line. Someone has to be the outlet for that. I'm sure a few people would like to try it.

a little give and take and everyone happy. share the love people

Mike - as I just messaged you, the only one lining pockets from this group of people is Daniel, even though it probably isn't much. My fishing for advertising on the front page is to fund the changes to tidy up the urls, and a few other things to integrate this forum back into the main realbeer.co.nz website so it all works the same and can be indexed better, and more people can find it. If you are hating on that and see it as a sell out then so be it.
If its costing you money and or in time and had blown out from being a hobby than YES!! somthing has to give and that is cost.
In the same way that you should never go food shopping while hungry, you should never go beer shopping while slightly boozed on Armageddon and other IPAs. I've ended up buying myself a rather expensive birthday present!
