Just racked my Schwarzbier to secondary, never racked before so not sure if this is normal or not. Anyway when I took the lid off primary there was what looked like a sprinkling of chocolate powder sitting on top of the beer. I took a sample from the tap and after the diacetyl rest the aroma is smelling much better than 4 days ago, tasted great too. Here's a pic, should I be worried? Only a tiny bit of it went into secondary. I know we get left overs in the fermenter from fermentation but didn't expect stuff to be sitting on top of the beer.

What stuff are you talking about? Everything looks normal to me.

The stuff clinging to the side of the fermenter? Just yeast and proteins.

All good bro, all good.
Phew!! Yeah not the trub at the bottom, that's as normal. But the stuff up the sides and on the syphon was what was sitting on top of the beer. At first I thought maybe yeast as pitched two packs of s-23, but looking closer it did look like cocoa powder or something. Having never racked before I've never seen my beer at this stage as just straight bottled. Cheers mate.
That looks like Yeast and Protien to me!! If I was worried right from the fermenter stage, the beer that you see on the edges is normaly clear and if it aint then im worried!!
Yep, just yeast and other goodies. Looks good to me.

Different yeasts can look very different and can easily surprise you. I was convinced my first lager was infected until I tasted it.
Cheers fellas, at first I just thought fuck, why is the yeast still just sitting on the top like it was after I pitched! Obviously the yeasts have done there thing, FG is where it's supposed to be and tasting good.
All looks good to me mate
There's some yeast and all, but that's all. - enjoy the beer
