The key to this beer is a massive whirlpool that delivers super peaches flavour,  The whirlpool must not start until you chill to 75C..

For a 20L batch for me into fermenter, I used us-05 but next batch I am going to try 090 or more likely 1272 which I think would be a better fit then us05.

Dry hop with 50-60g Amarillo as well

JESUS!!!

Thats quite the whirlpool addition.....

what about adding half of that addition at 0 then the remaining after another 20 mins??

I haven't tried that.....      its a long story but this recipe developed from a kettle fault,  the dry boil thingy kicked in and the kettle wouldn't heat past 75C about 45mins into the boil   ,  it was a bit pissed off so put in a huge whirlpool to make up for it,  thinking I would get enough bitterness,  in that recipe I didn't but got so much flavor I now brew like this a lot.  (helped that I got 1kg of Amarillo in a bulk buy) as I really wanted to nail this recipe

This is the full 90 min boil version,    yes there is a lot of hops in it,  more peaches then in the commercial version IMHO.   I am brewing a lot of 10L batches now,  I am going to try a gladdies ale vs american ale version as well to see how that changes it, perhaps a bit more body in the ale .but the hop flavor is bang on.

This looks awesome! This is one of my favorites and had been thinking of giving it a crack myself, cheers for posting!

I've read that US05 can throw peach esters at low temps so was thinking giving that a crack, any thoughts? Sounds like you've already got plenty of peach?

US05 is fine, I used 2 packets ,  I think 1272 would compliment this beer better then us05 does,  090 is interesting as well and I have that to hand...    Any clean ale yeast would work,    its not the yeast that gives the peach.  I think its more important the beer attenuates properly..so us of at 18-> 20 at end of ferment worked fine for me....

I think my next batch will be 090 with Gladdies ale malt, only because I have a lot of that on hand and I am interested to see how much more body it has vs the american ale....

Its a very drinkable beer supper easy to drink while watching the rugby etc.... a good winter beer IMHO.

Sweet, sounds good, what was your FG / OG by the way?

I had a 1.065 OG , I did test the FG but did not write it down,  it would have been around 1.014-15, if it had been higher I would have noted a bad ferment.  I left the us05 for quite a while at higher temp to finish properly,   Was kept warm for around 2-3 weeks.  /p>

No dry hop?? I do like the peaches, might have to try this soon...

yeah It needs dry hop - i added in text

Doh, skim reading > me...

Hi Peter. How close do you think this clone is to the real thing? I bet it makes a great beer for sure though! I am a big fan of a large late addition like this.

The real bottles of AP tend to be bitter bombs, try a bottle next to a draught pint to see what I mean.   This beer is like the draught version.   I only had it on keg,  I did not bottle.    It was best at week 2-3 in keg, wasn't so good until the co2 equalised.   I did not shake it.

Its a single hop beer so hard to get the hopping wrong, the hardest part is to get peach vs bitterness,  at 75C there is not a lot of isomerising sp?  going on,  so you wont get much bittering but you get huge flavour,  this works well with Amarillo.

This has more peach in it then angry peaches does,  I think you could reduce the 180g to a bit less but why bother  you are looking for peaches....

If I had to improve anything more body in the beer.... hence I am going to try Gladdies ale malt,  this beer is way easier to make then epic pale ale is.     I have not been able to clone EPA yet.   my beer is always well off the mark,  may try a big whirlpool and see what happens in that recipe as well

Interesting observation, I had a similar feeling about Los Lobos after trying it on tap at Beervana last year and then in cans later on. The canned version seemed to be more bitter and less aroma/flavour.
