Beer cloning

Hi everyone,

 

I had an idea I thought could be fun if anyone is keen?

 

We go to the Moutere pub for a bit of a tasting session, evryone takes a few notes and at the end of the night everyone picks a favourite and buys a flagon or two. Over the next month or so everyone tries to re create the beer they picked. A couple of crate swaps down the line everyone brings their clone and the flagon of the beer they bought from the pub that night and see how close we got.

 

The only rule is you can't ask the brewer / brewers of the original beer that you bought from the pub about that beer.

 

Maybe we could organise a trip out there in the next month and have the beer brewed in a couple of crate swaps time.

Hi All,

For those that are keen for the Beer cloning idea I reckon we should tie in with the Moutere Pub "Stout and Winter Ale Showcase" as Im sure a few of you will be going anyway, which kicks off on Thursday 16th June. There is transport available so no worries there. My Wife will probably drive as her parents live out there so I will probably have a couple of spare seats as well. Details of the event are below. Let us know if your keen.

 THE DARK SIDE - STOUT AND WINTER ALE SHOWCASE

Mid-winter is the time for all those big dark beers.  We'll have a selection of special ones from Thursday 16th to Sunday 19th.  Epic Stout, 3 Boys Oyster Stout, Hallertau Porter, Moa Russian Imperial Stout, Croucher's Black IPA and West Coast Oatmeal Stout and we'll also have Galbraiths Porter real ale.

 

We'll be running a bus on the first night of the Showcase (Thursday) leaving Nelson at 6:30pm via Stoke and Richmond and returning around 10.30pm - for $10 return.  Please phone or email for locations and to book a seat.
