Hi guys,
Our first Dunedin crate swap went pretty well, and I think it's fair to say that there is enough interest to make it a semi-regular event. It's a great opportunity to try other people's beers and learn about different brewing styles and recipes.
As such, I propose that the date for the next crate swap is Saturday 28th May. This gives people a bit of time to brew a beer and have it ready for the swap.
Ideally we're looking for 13 brewers. This means that you can get a mixed dozen without recieving one of your own brews back. So the first 13 confirmed brewers for the crate swap will get priority.
Here's what to do:
1. Register your interest in participating in the crate swap here in this thread.
2. Brew an awesome beer of any style. Preferably all-grain or mini mash.
3. Bring a crate (12 x 750ml bottles) of your brew to the Dunedin Malt House during the week leading up to the 28th May. Make sure your beers are labelled and include your name and the recipe of the beer that you made. Recipes etc. can be on bits of paper and just label your caps with a distinct symbol which is also on your recipe sheets. Or if you're real keen you can stick em directly onto your bottles.
4. Come to Dunedin Malt House on Saturday 28th of May to pick up your crate of delicious mixed brews from some of the finest home brewers Dunedin has to offer!
5. Sit back, relax and enjoy some brews. Take tasting notes and post feedback on the different beers in this thread if you want to.

Hi Bart
Count me in. I'm just sucking back one of JR's IPA's from the last swap.
Bloody good drop.
Hey all
Are we still on for the crate swap next week? Do we have enough beer to make it worthwhile?
If need be, I can bring two crates (of different beers) along to make up the numbers.
Regards
Justin
Hi Justin,
Yes the crate swap is definitely still a go!! No dout about that... there has been additional interest in it outside of this thread too. I think we might have about 10 or so guys interested? We will see on the day I suppose. But yes if you have 2 different crates avalaible that would be awesome and then of course you can take 2 crates away of the mixed brews.
Hi Dave,
Yes your beer will be more than welcome. You can drop a crate off any time this week at the Dunedin Malt House, or else you can bring it at opening time 11am on Saturday and there will most likely be a few other brewers lurking about too. Be sure to bring at least one copy of your recipe or preferably 12... doesn't need to be a full A4 page though you can probably fit 6 or so copies of the recipe on a single sheet if you arrange it right (to save on printing).. or if you email DMH a copy of the recipe i can print it out in the shop.
Hey everyone!
I'm really sorry about this but the beer I was intending to bring to the crat swap isn't ready yet. I cracked open a bottle last night and it needs a bit more time so I'll have to pull out I'm afraid. I'll definitely get one sorted for Crate Swap #3 of course...
You should take it in anyway and just leave a note to let it condition for a couple more weeks.
I could do that...its just that what if it doesn't turn out ok?!! It should be fine theoretically but...Hmmm what to do!! :-o
