Went for the caramunich in the end as it gives the beer a nice colour and want to try that grain out. Just added the melanoiden in last minute as read it's the biz. Plan is to ferment for 14 days at 10-12 then rack to secondary and throw a Munich Dunkel straight onto the yeast cake.
Any advice on the caramunich and melanoiden amounts, look ok?
Good amount of melanoiden, but I really dont think you will need the caramunich as youll be getting a fair bit of sweetness from the munich and vienna...
Thoughts on this sort of pseudo lager/blande ale type thingamebob for my FIL who wanted me to brew something more like macs gold... I dont want to brew anything that shit, but considering doing this...
OG - 1040 with 19IBU's
2.25kg Pale
750g Munich II - to up the malt flavours
250g Cane Sugar - to dry it out
I guess it could be seen as a waste, I jus figured that Amarillo is fairly pleasant, and althought its not really nuetral it is in a way cos its not full on fruity and has a bit of a spicy/floral aspect as well..
Got to sneak a bit of flavour in there to help the craft beer revolution ;o)
Waste was probably a bit strong. Motueka or Riwaka at 20g shouldn't be overly fruity and would be a good intro to craft beer. Save the Amarillo for your next IPA :)
Can't really comment on your recipe - but looks like a "La Trappe" or "Leffe" type of blonde to me. I have this Porter bottled for you bro - Are you going to the Malthouse this Friday or Saturday?
Hey that's right, your in town. What's your plans? My weekends a bit shackled to looking after the kids on Saturday and Sunday but I could make a stealth trip on the train to the Malthouse Friday night. Let me know your movements and I'll try to work something out. Have an american stout and a dubbel here for you, need to get them out of the house before I drink them.
