I just wanted to throw out some praise to the Yeastie Boys. Since they’ve hit the scene I’ve been nothing but impressed with what they’ve done in quite a few areas

First of all I applaude the innovation to contract brew at Invercargill using beervana as a springboard to launch the brand….minimum risk and maximum exposure, great stuff!

The beer:
It’s great, it’s interesting, well thought out, well brewed with good ingredients and damn tasty!

The Attitude:
Openness to share recipes….what’s that about? Whatever it is it’s a great thing to do! Stu’s openness to share knowledge and answer questions, everybody wins!
Lack of compromise on flavour…speaks for itself, the beers are full of flavour and I continue to be impressed.

And my final mad prop….information thank god we finally get constant updates on where beer can be bought, drunk or bathed in!

My only gripe is why can’t we just get all this great beer all the time? I’m eagerly awaiting March for the next instalment!

My dog actually looks a bit like a whippet... it's a Border Collie-Greyhound mix.
+1 for big ups to Stu and Luke for both making damn good beer :o)
Luke and I have had some discussions about getting more (keg) Epic to the south island. Pomeroys as well as a couple of other ChCh bars plus one or two in Dunedin are very keen and we have tried in the past however a couple of issues - namely freight costs and keg logistics make it very difficult to achieve this at a competitive price for the publician. When faced with the choices from Invercargill, Emersons or any brewery from the top of the SI against Epic at up to $75 a keg more - what would you choose?
Luke (is hopefully) crunching some numbers as we speak and if it all pans out - hopefully we'll have some developments in the not too distant future.

In the meantine - those in ChCh get to the Thirsty Guy bottle store Victoria St - Emersons Pilsner & Tuatara Hefe on riggers + West Coast beers and a couple from Nelson Bays. Beer Club coming soon too.

Cheers.....Craig
Take down request! Thread hijack! ;-)
Oh - and the Thirsty Bloke will have Kid Chocolate on as soon as it's made....!!!
You are about 12 posts to this thread too late to call that Stu. I'd say my first post was the tread jack.;-)
Yeh, I thought you were jacking off...
Second that.

I like how YB are doing the always-seasonal-beer-thing. I dunno about other consumers, and maybe it's because I'm a homebrewer, but I tend to buy a beer once or twice and then, even if I like it, won't buy it again for a while. Because I'd rather try something new I guess, and it's great how it looks like YB will always be bringing out new beers.
This is the perennial problem for craft breweries.

I myself am guilty of that. Always looking for something new.

Limburg is a classic example of never quite reaching critical mass. Making fantastic beer, which everyone tried and raved about but didn't drink huge quantities of.

Most people that drink craft beer are always trying other new beers. They aren't loyal to a brand of beer, they don't drink huge quantities of one beer.

Here is the problem. Beer is low value, and to stay in business you need to sell lots of it or have a higher price than the mainstream. The higher the price the less you sell. Even now at the $6 to $8 for 500ml range, small brewers aren't making the proper manufacturing margin they should be. And there is no way they are selling the volume they need to be.

Drink more craft beer.
Amen to that Luke.
Hey - lots of people are saying amen around here. We already have a father, maybe you could be a brother? Brother Luke.
And why are brothers on a first name basis but fathers are on a last name basis?

Have I just jacked off this thread?
yep, have you been smoking P? ;0)
Nope, drinking Yeastie Boys.
