Beer concentrate - any theory on how Pat makes these??

Beer concentrate - add water and carbonate. A very cool idea for the back country inclined!

Now, does anybody have any theory on how Pat might be making a 25% alcohol concentrate that when watered down tastes something like beer?? In other articles it says they use standard ingredients and mash/kettle/fermentor...

a bit more info here

Reading that second article properly it is more like 49% alcohol! Even more interesting!

maybe spinning band or vacuum distillation and really careful reblending of the results?

Or a mix of that and some boiled down spec grains + ethanol + hop extract?

They keep mentioning that they do not start with all the water in the process... so I think that rules out the distillation method.

I was thinking you could brew like normal and boil it down to concentrate before fermenting... but then the yeast would never ferment it...

I suspect this might be the answer here

Yes indeed!
