Hey, thinking of doing a split batch APA and trying a different yeast. Have got Denny's Fav, Thames Valley & Thames Valley 2. Anyone tried any of these in this style?
Havnt tried any of those particular yeasts but regularly use 1469 West Yorkshire with American hops and its good!! Makes the hops a bit more subtle than US-05 does, but nice malt character and yeast esthers to back it all up!
That 1469 is a PC strain? Looking at Jo's recipe above I'm thinking I'll try my Thames II

Yes it is, which is why I hung onto some, many thanks to our resident scientist :o)
The 1469 came up in conversation when Jamil was in town. He said he had it on good authority that it'll be soon be a permanent in Wyeast's catalogue. Here's hoping
That's great news. I've had good results with that strain.
Doing a brew for the SOBA do next month.

I substituted in some rye in place of wheat. Also hit my gravity, so i think my homemade mill is actually working ok (I'd still like to replace it with a proper one though)

What's with the lager yeast Simon?
Good question ... I wanted it to add other notes in ... more an experiment than anything else.
Ditch the S33 and get some lager Yeast of Jo if its not to late. It will be more of a Baltic Porter.
