Interisland Case swap

Hey guys

Allrighty then, I feel that due to all these new BIAB'ers and a few more new to traditional AG in NZ, that an inter island case swap could be the business??

Id like to organise something, so I need an idea of whos keen so I can get numbers sorted, then we can come together and work out a way that this will work... I know it seems daunting, but if the guys in aussie are doing state wide case swaps, theres not much difference in distance between say AKL and ChCh...

So come on guys, put your hands up, hopefully we get a fair bit of interest, id say we need at least 6 people?

So, if I understand it correctly, we have 3 cities and 5 brewers.

I'm assuming that each city will send beer to both of the others? If we could get one more we would have a nice round number.

Reviled, are you suggesting that we each brew 2 different beers (then each city will be sending 4 beers to the others)?

Well it seems that at this stage we only have 3 people in chch, and me and Barry up here in auckland.. But we can make do...

So im guessing PET bottles will be best due to posting them, maybe 750mls cos thats what I have the most of? What bottle size is best for you guys? And yeah, I reckon two beers each, so if theres 5 of us, we need 8 bottles each in total, 4 of each brew... Does my math work out? its early ;oP Im pretty sure thats right... lol

I'd love to join you guys but I've probably only got one homebrew brew day in me before Xmas, and that'll be early November (who knows when it'll make it to the kegs, let alone whether I'll get time to bottle).

If another one happens next year, I'll hopefully have a few brews ready.

So, to keep the ball rolling so we can get organising, im planning on brewing one batch for this swap next weekend, and I might use a batch ive allready got for my second...

But I want to finalise what bottle size we should all be using? What does everyone have 8 of? I have heaps of 750ml and 1.25 litre PET bottles so either would be best for me?

What do you guys think?

3 out of 5 say 750ml PET bottles, so I guess thats what it will be...

Im gonna start a recipe thread just for the case swap beers soon, keep an eye out and update us all :o)

Ok, im gonna throw a date out there, just tell me if youre sweet with it or not?

Im thinking, we have a local meet on the 22nd of November, then post away out cases and have another local meet the following saturday the 29th, and all walk away with our beers...
