First post from me.  A year or so brewing - this time around.  I was shopping around for the next step up from BIAB and was impressed by the Farra kit but struggling with the price and felt there had to be a better way.  I am developing a three pot electric system with 2 kW elements and thermometers with the help of an enthusiastic chemical process engineer from India - here as a lawn mower repair man...  I'll post some photos when we get there - and look forward to questions/ feedback/ suggestions...

Hi Tony, how is the new system going? I am seriously looking at a two tier three pot system. I've checked out Farra, Sabco and Beerbelly amongst others but it is an expensive business :-(

I have a similar system using electric elements that I am on the way to building, but I used an old hotwater cylinder cut in 1/2, this gives me 2, 90ltr pots, one with a 2kw element already in, have to put one in the other pot, I kept all the insulation on and used another old water cyclinder for making the dome shaped  lids.

I have a probelm trying to get the black oxide off the inside of the copper pots though, anyone know how to get rid of this? these pots have been sitting there for years waiting to go heheh.

Hi. Well I am close to be able to offer something ... If I had taken Mikes advice from brewers coop early on that I should just buy a farra kit and probably save in the long run - well he was right! But... I think I am close to being able to offer a pot in stainless with 4400 watt electric elements, tap or cam lock (stainless - a bit of money but great!) thermometer, volume marks on the snide ( lot less hassle and lot cheaper than glass jobbies on the outside, and hop/grain blocker... 70 litre pot. I'd need Todd it up but $600 or $800 a pot I think. I would go for two of these and a smaller HLT with one 2200w element I think.
