Thats a decent looking mill - looks like you've progressed on from the trailer parts version from last year.
Are those rollers custom made? What are they made from? I take it you've pressed bearings onto the roller ends or into the angle frame.
Thanks Jason.
I'd imagine there's something fulfiling about turning the crank and seeing the end product fall into view - an immediate cause and effect with a tasty outcome is great for the soul!
Have you had any problem with the idler roller not turning? Some commercial models have a geared drive and others not - seems to rely on nice sharp knurling and the right mill gap.
Was it worth the $$ doing it yourself, or would a commercial mill be more economical for say $200?
Having only one stationary roller means you also get some grinding (slight due to slippage) happening as well as your crushing so the gap isn't quite so Important. Cost 14 dollars worth of bearings and a bottle of bourbon( home mad of course) and a couple of favours owed. All made from bits from the mech shop at work scrounged. So I guess total cost to be about 60 bucks and some sweat
cool - the best sort of project - scrounged parts and bartered/ shared skills. Nothin' better. Best of luck with putting it to good use!
Thank you
