A re-brew of a BIAB Strong Black IPA - I'm working on getting more post boil - this was was intended for 19l into the fermentor but got 16l...
OG was 1070 - FG 1012
90% Gladfields Ale Malt
3% Gladfields Chocolate Malt
4% Gladfields Dark Crystal
3% Weyermanns Carafa Special III
Mashed for 60mins at 65'C
29gm US Perle 60min
30gm US Cascade 15min
25gm US Centennial and 10gm US Amarillo at 10mins plus Yeast Nutrient
28gm US Cascade 5mins
25gm US Centennial and 15gm US Amarillo at 0mins
Wyeast 1056
Dry Hopped 5 days with 40gm US Cascade and 25gm US Amarillo
With it being pretty cold down here I've struggled with getting a good carbonation in the bottle - so its a bit older now - some of the hop aroma has faded.
Cheers and enjoy.

Hi Duncan, your black IPA was a nice colour and poured with a good lasting caramel head.It was perfectly carbed with a lovely nose of vanilla and coffee. The only thing I didn't like about this beer was a slight lingering bitterness I am guessing from the Perle but that is more a personal preference thing I imagine. You should be proud of that one.
Hi Duncan
Thanks for the prompt, I sat down with a couple mates Sunday and cracked into a few of the swaps. You IPA went down well, bitterness good as was clarity and carb. May have missed some the finer notes as this followed Marks Mosaic. My 2 cents would be to extend your dry hop a bit longer and maybe add a little more cascade at whirlpool to give it some more aroma. Overall a great drop.
Thanks Steve - yeah - I think the extra dry hopping is a good call
Hey great I loved it.
Poured black with subdued but persisting head. Nose of subtle chocolate and caramel. Great balance of alcohol, malt, bitterness. I don't know if I'm drinking it as a stout but my only gripe is the hop flavour? Like it would just nudge out at times, a bit fruity. Does it straddle the boundaries between styles? I haven't had many black IPAs.
I would definitely drink this, and I would happily pay money for it!
Yeah I agree Greg re the hoppiness but I think this beer peaked about a month ago so the hops would have died down. Its an interesting style! Cheers
Found this in the back of the fridge, awesome, very well made balanced and enjoyable, might have to have a go at this. Sorrybfor taking so long to get to it. Thanks for sharing
