Hey Peter - First Case Swap 12 beer for me and its a good one. As you know I'm a heathen with UK Bitters but as the last case swap did - it opened my palate to "bitter" goodness.
Apperance - nice dark golden/brown with a good head that remained for a long time. Good carbonation.
Aroma - not familiar with Bramling Cross hops but picked up the floral but sort of butterscotch scent
Taste and Mouthfeel - good bit of bitter zing on the tongue. Roasty and malty.
Good stuff Peter - nice to get a 740ml!
Very enjoyable beer Peter nice and refreshing, could easily drink a few. Interesting floral aroma that didn't hide the malt and with a slight spicy flavour. Long lasting head and a colour similar to the beer on the label with a good amount of bitterness that remained. I will have to look out for the original to compare.
Cheers guys, I Burtonised the water held back a little bit and had no epsom salts. I am going to cut the dark crystal back a bit, try about 50g of roasted barley in there. this one came out almost ESB strength so will edge off a touch as I think its better a bit thinner, I didnt temp control this one as my garage was about 16C I think it could have done with a decent lift to 21 for a few days.
I am keen to give BC hops another crack. I will def use Gelatine next time and keg to get the carb right... I am a little over bottling
So straight from the bottle this one was over carbed to me, big head, foaming in the mouth, however good flavour.
I let the gas dissipate for a while and came back to it, what a transformation, This is a really interesting beer, I got a spice flavour that was great, clove meets nutmeg. Good malt character, long lasting head. A good beer Pete once the carb level settled down. Thanks for sharing, definitely want to try this yeast.
