Proper beer in Chch

Hey,

I dunno if you fullas were aware but there's a new craft beer pub opened on Lichfield St.

It's called the Thirsty Weta and it has Emmersons London Porter, IPA and pilsner, Invercargill stout, Wigram Vienna Lager, Renaissance scotch ale and $5 pints of Croucher pils on tap.

The beer fridges were well stocked with some good beers from the NZ Craft beer stable. The usual suspects were all there.

Nice place and the bar man seemed like he was interested in Beer. My only complaint is that the draft beers are all served at pils temperatures so the dark beers were too cold. Still, it's nice to have another bar with decent beers on tap!

I have no affiliation to the place, BTW, I just dropped in there after a "ruby murray" above the bar yesterday.

Greene King IPA at Northlands Pak and Save. It's not in the beer fridge, it's in the one with the cider and Lindauer. It's running about $8 a bottle but it's absolutely lovely

For a rather large select of beers check out Merivale Mall, I think it is Fresh Choice. The imports are not in the fridge, but closer to the front of the store.

I'm pretty sure that they bought out Harvey's stock from the Beer Emporium.

If they have any left, try the O'Hara's Celebration Stout. It's a magical drop but pricey at $14 for 750mls

Oh, I'd forgotten that I had visited this place again and hadn't posted about it.

It's a great wee spot but seems to be a bit quiet in there at the moment.

I managed to grab a bottle od Smoking Bishop in there last time I visited.

The guys were very receptive to my comment on the temperature of the dark beers (the Bookbinder tasted like Speights it was so cold)
