Hi, struggling to find a cheap source of copper tube for an immersion chiller, cheapest I've found so far is $17.03 + GST (for 5/16 OD). Am thinking of making a 10m chiller, so that is gonna work out pretty dear.

Does anyone have a chiller or some tube lying around they want to sell?

Cheers

Chris

he sells coils of copper (15m) for about $60. Just gotta be quick when he lists them as they get snapped up pretty quick

Sweet as, thanks Ralph that sounds more like it!
Just checked him out (can't do at work TM is banned), awesome thing is he's based in the same town as me too. Seems to list something about once every 3-4 days, unfortunately no listings atm so I can't contact him, but he says he usually has more so will ask.
do a search on this forum. There are other threads that mention him, and give an email address to contact him on.
good thinking! cheers. For anyone else who's interested it's brassman123 at hotmail dot com
go to http://www.forum.realbeer.co.nz/forum/topics/copper-pipe-for-immersion the email address for the trademe guy (brian) who supplies copper pipe is there. Just email him and tell him what you want (eg one roll of the half inch pipe), ask him for his bank account details and the cost and he will send it to you. I got two rolls last week, no problem. Sometimes you need to wait a week or so if he doesn't have excess stock at the time, but often not. Actually, just noticed the email address is in the post two above, there you go!
I didn't have any luck with this chap, no reply.
Look up trader stock-nz on TM, I just got a 1/4" 15m coil for $71 inc postage.

I didn't yet! Should be easy as though, was thinking a compression fitting with an automotive hose barb fitting screwed on the end. Bang your garden hose on the end of that and add a hoseclip for safety.

Should really get my arse into gear and make one. If you're keen to know I can get it sorted and stick a few pics on my blog in a day or two?

Yeah 1/2" would probably be better than 1/4" on account of the extra surface area? Not a bad price as it contains all the fittings. If you want I can email the dude I got mine from and ask him if he's got any left?
No worries! Nah should be OK thanks will pop down to the friendly local plumbing shop they usually look after me. Work has been a bitch lately tho so not had much time for brewing and knackered when I get to chill!
Odd that he is not replying - like I said I received two coils from him just last week and I note that he had an auction close only 5 days ago for another coil on TM where he states that he has several available to those interested. Perhaps he has gone on holiday or something? If you are not in a hurry maybe wait a bit longer for a reply or double check the email address you used, it would be a shame to pay that much over the odds unless you really have to. Then again, when there is beer to be brewed, waiting is often not an option!
