I'm trying to track down some Cinchona bark in NZ to make my own tonic water (bark pieces or ground powder, either will be suitable) but just coming up blank, even with the lab supplies so thought I'd ask the collective brain power of the forum!

I can find it on Amazon but not one that ships to nz :(

It might be easier to grow the tree...

What you want is Quinine. I know it is available in NZ as quinine sulphate. Your pharmacist should know. I know a wholesaler stocks it. But they only sell to pharmacies. Or check this here: http://buy-quinine-sulfate.kiwidrug.com/ not sure if it helps.

Cheers

I'll chat to my chemist on the way home tonight, not sure what the difference is between quinine and quinine sulphate but its the best start I have!

Seems they are trying to grow it in the Waitakeres but cant track that down either...

Cheers!
