When are new season hops available from brewshops?

Just wondering when the new season hops hit the shops?

I need to buy some more hops and would rather wait for the fresh new season hops than buy ones that are getting on for a year old...

Anyone know?

I have seen that BrewshopNZ has more Simcoe, US Cascade, Chinook, Centenniel. What season it is I don't know until I get my mits on some. Wont be for a while as I just placed an order at BC earlier.

Ah. That would be US hops... I was specifically thinking of the NZ hops that are being harvested around this time of year!

I had planned to do an American hopped ale while I waited for the NZ hops to come back in...

I think they have just started pelletising so probablly in the next 4 weeks

I heard a horrible rumour (very good source) that the supply/harvest of NZ Riwaka hops this year is not good ... what was harvested is already gone... so none may make it to the homebrew stores.

 

I still hope this is a false rumour from a drunken bum... but I think not.

 

I do know that last year the Hop growers had a bumper crop... and hop growing is like Olives.. One year good the next is not so good.

 

I wonder how you get into the professional hop growing... I have the land... just need the rest.

Did the european new season arrive yet as well? EKG, Saaz etc.. no point buying old stuff as well :o
