What do you guys think about this pump http://www.boyu-australia.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&...

Anyone own one? If so, how does it compare with a March or Chugger pump? There is a March on allgrain.co.nz for $315.00 but always keen to save a couple bucks where possible.

I got one of these keg king pumps, I think it was about $120nz after shipping. It gets the job done, needs throttling for mash recirculation but whirlpool on 40L is a bit pox. March or Chugger are probably way better but I wouldn't pay 3x the price for one.

If you do get one and are attaching stainless fittings try without thread tape first, the plastic is real soft and I almost stripped the thread when I used tape then took the tape off and it worked fine.

I've got something similar and they are fine. Mine is a kegking mkll which has the black polysufone head and is rated higher in temperature (same one Cain mentions). It was about 70 aus at a shop in Sydney. It's more like 20l min than 40 but it is more than enough for recirc.whirlpool is a bit weak but I think that my implementation of whirlpool is pretty poor too.

I got a couple of these when the aussie exchange rate was close to parity, had someone from work going to Aus so there was no freight, $249 Aus for a SS chugger - happy days

was wondering same thing have found this on trademe and was wondering if would do for wort recirculating.

I would say not. 2 main issues would be the 60 degree maximum temperature, and the fact you are relying on mechanical seals (motor shaft goes through into the pump itself). Most wort pumps are magnetic drive, a sealed unit to avoid contamination from seal wear, leakage, seal lubrication etc.

beauty thanks for that

Ditto on the SS Chuggar pump... no issues, worth the cash.
