Hi - we are organising an "OCToberFest" fund raiser for the Outram Charitable Trust here in Outram (about 20K from Dunedin) on October 17th this year.
My intention to have as many of the local breweries represented as possible.. I'd be interested in hearing from others who have organised a beer festival to see how you went about it and what sort of setup you had - my current thinking is that the admission ticket will include a free souvenir beer handle and possibly the first few 'tastings' from each brewer, so probably have each brewery at a separate 'bar' in the hall, with those brewers who are interested in staying being on hand to give a bit of a talk on their beers as they see fit.. Then we will have further books of beer coupons on sale that could be swapped for a fill up with any brewer.. hopefully the souvenir beer handle will minimise washing up etc.
Would you normally purchase the beer from the breweries up front or for those that attend work out a cut on beers sold?
Obviously some entertainment too - a long shot I know but does anybody know of an oompah band in the Dunedin area?
Food, something simple like sausages, bacon butties or spit roast or something..
Any tips or suggestions will be very warmly welcomed... also if you are a local brewer who hasn't already heard from me give me a shout
