A bit of lite harted fun. I know beer aint the new wine but is it the NEW CURRENCY? I have traveled a bit in my sort lived life and everyone asks me, what was the country like? my answer in my head is allways, yeah beers not to bad, breakfasts should start at ten and I wish I was back there. But I always say it was great. But the next penoltiment (if thats how you spell it) question is 'HOW MUCH IS A BEER'!! they dont ask what is the exchange rate or the 90 day bills nor the price of gold but, HOW MUCH BEER? Brilliant!!

I've noticed the same thing.

I guess the price of beer is a good measure of the cost of living in a place. It's probably the smallest "luxury" item that most people buy.

I worked in Sweden for a while and it was twice as expensive as Ireland. When I came to NZ first it was about half the price.

For me, another great measure of a country is whether you can get a decent cup of tea. Alas, NZ has a bit to do ;-)
