Hi,

Just testing my home made beer chiller, and i can now get a constant 5(ish) degrees out of it. Is this low enough for lagering a pils (or lager)?

Cheers

I'm more of an ale man, but 5 degrees sounds about right to me.

I was half thinking of a lager before winter is out and use my garage to lager - guess the ambient temp in there would be about that in winter so go for it.

Sure James P will post something about optimum lagering temps.

John Palmer says this about lagering beers.

In metric you're looking at a range from 7c to 1.6c. I'd say the the 5-6 weeks at 40F (4.44C) is the one for you.

Enjoy!
I'm only posting this cause you made me Ally.....

Nothing more to add except the closer you get to 0C the quicker you lager, so yeah, what Ally said (he should have been a lager man!).
Thanks for the advise ... lets hope the box performs well for a few weeks
