This may seem silly but for those of us without sewing gear who still want to dry hop our beer and don't want to spend $25, there is an easy way!
First gather together:
1x Sharp scissors
1x Cigarette lighter
1x Table
1x Big book
1x Piece of swiss voile fabric ( Spotlight stores for $10ish a square meter)
Then:
1/ Roughly cut out a piece of fabric twice the size of the bag you want.
2/ Fold the piece in half with the un-cut edge of the fabric at the opening end of the bag.
3/Place the folded piece on the edge of the table hanging over the edge by 30mm and place the book on top to hold it flat and still.
4/ Trim the over hanging edge off 20 mm neatly with scissors.
5/ Using the table edge to guide your hand use ciggy lighter to gently melt the edges of the cut fabric together ( make sure they are pressed together tightly and hold the flame NEXT to the edge NOT under it, It might pay to have a practice first.)
6/ Then turn it around and do the same thing with the other cut edge to complete the bag.
We put a ping pong ball in then tie the bag shut with string and drop it straight into the fermenter SWEET AS! Hoppy goodness!
Cheers.
