i'm pretty keen to make this recipe next weekend

14.00 lb Pale Malt (2 Row) US (2.0 SRM)
1.25 lb Cara-Pils/Dextrine (2.0 SRM)
1.00 lb Caramel/Crystal Malt - 10L (10.0 SRM)
1.00 lb Vienna Malt (3.5 SRM)
0.50 oz Centennial [9.50%] (55 min)
0.50 oz Centennial [9.50%] (35 min)
0.50 oz Cascade [7.80%] (20 min)
0.50 oz Cascade [7.80%] (5 min)
1 Pkgs Nottingham (Danstar #-) (Hydrated)

here's his description of his hopping experiments-

Once I matched up Centennial as the bittering hop and Cascade as a flavor/aroma hop…that’s when the magic happened.

there doesn't seem to be too much centennial out there at the moment, any substitution suggestions?

cheers
martin

It seems cascade, columbus or chinook.

This seems to be a good site to learn about different hop flavours.

This is the recipe from biermuncher on homebrewtalk aye?

I think since he seems to swear by the cent and cascade combo I'd be reluctant to stray from it. You could order some from craftbrewer.com.au.

Centennial is usually described as supercascade and with out the grapefruit, so possibly you could swap out with cascade.
yes it is his recipe, centennial blonde i think he calls it, it seems to get heaps of good reviews and is an easy drinker that everyone likes-its orphans christmas at my house this year so i'm making this and a wit.hopefully they will keep everyone happy:o)
I reckon Amarillo is a pretty good sub out for Centennial. There are a few differences late in the boil - but with the additions you are after in this recipe... I'd say you'd struggle to notice the difference.

I have a few kilo's lying around at the moment...
whats the going rate for a kilo?
There's none around at the moment, but some of the homebrew shops should have some in soon.
