unlikely I would think, scorching wort might be more of a risk, my setup has the burner ~100mm below the pot and I have had no issues. I cut a keg down to 10l once, used the off cut as a shield around the burner as well so that I was channeling the heat to where I wanted it.
You would get an empty pot red hot if you set out to do it, but why would you.
