You don't see outraged articles when Robert Parker advocates wineries making wines at 15% abv and double oaking them for a port edge, or terrified hacks asking why the average abv of wine has crept upwards from 11.5% to nearer 113.5% in the last ten years.
Imagine giving people an option outside of a tasteless golden lager. What will the evil breweries do next?
Too true. When you can buy a bottle of 14% wine in NZ for $8 that sells like hot cakes... then you look at this article and get half the amount of a 10% beer for $10... who has the drinking problem?
Not the beer drinker.
Mind you - I am extremely partial to a very wide array of wines!
Dont make any though. I leave that to the experts!
I must confess I Love Wine!!! but I cant drink it as I drink it like good beer!!
Also I dont believe this quote
High Alc Beers
are the work of young brewing entrepreneurs trying capture the attention - and cash - of lager-guzzling twenty-somethings.
Not true im a twenty something and I drink them!! not to get pissed but to enjoy the flavour that I believe is unsurpassed by any lower alc 3.5-4.5% beer, correct me if im wrong!!
I like how they talk about hops like it's fucking crack or something.
"Another of its products, Hardcore IPA, contains 10 times more hops than a standard beer. The result is a drink that scores 150 on a scale of bitterness, compared with 15 for a standard lager." "Oh my fucking god, what's this world coming to?!"
Anyway, show almost any mainstream beer drinker any real beer and they'll go "Why would I buy X beer for $20 a sixer when I can get a dozen Y for that?"
The English have a strange mentality that change or something new is not good!! Example switch cards (eftpos) it had been out in NZ for 10 years and 4 in the UK and the bastards still didnt trust it!! even though not one of them nor any one that they new of had ever suffer a malfunction or banker error?
