Apologies for posting this in the general forum but not everyone reads the SOBA forum and we're looking for as many people to attend as possible.

Thursday 1st April has been designated by SOBA as Brewjolais Day - a day to celebrate the launch of Mac's Brewjolais, a distinctive wet-hopped pale ale. We'll be gathering in Mac's Brewbars around the country and raising a toast (at 6pm) to the beer, the brewers & the company that makes it.

There's an Event listed on this site with more details. I hope that lots of you will turn up at your nearest location. Although this is a SOBA-organised event, guests are more than welcome so bring along your friends, families and workmates. It's the last evening before the Easter holiday so there's no work (for most of us) the next day. Should be a great night out.

Cheers,

Martin

None in Dunedin! I have been emailing a cafe/bar here that has mac's on tap telling them to try and get it but I am not holding my breath.

The date is a bit suspect though - lets have a party, I'll see you there.... yeah its on april fools day.... I promise there will be good beer there....honest.
I had a chap from an industry mag contact me for an interview. He thought we might have been taking the piss and was loathe to call. I wish they'd picked a better date for the release. I think it's negatively impacted the publicity. :(
In one way it's a crap date (the April Fools angle) but at least it's the day before a long weekend so we can all indulge and not worry about work for a while.
I've tried the beer... it's far from crap.
I'm pretty sure Mac's have a rule that it can't be served outside their official "brew bars" but i could be wrong.
I've been in close contact with Lion and it's only going out to the 6 brewbars. I suspect it's an availability thing more than anything.

I tried to get it into a couple of other locations (the Tron was one) but no success.

But if we drink them dry in one night this year, who knows what might happen next year??!
Say hi to Ally for us Wellington lads Martin... he'll be missed.
I'll be at Newmarket - sounds like it's lacking in members. Dunno if I'll make it in time for the toast though.
Newmarket's not looking too bad, Kingsland could be a bit thin on the ground. That's the problem with having 3 bars in Auckland, but fewer SOBA members.

Still, I'm hopeful that we'll get a good number to each one.
I should be at one or the other
I'm kinda hoping you'll be at Kingsland Sam (hint, hint). Not that I don't want to see you!
I can't make it at 6:00pm but I've organised for a small group to head over at lunchtime today for a taste.
Just a had a couple of tastes and my conclusion is: It's a very nice pale ale.

Not exactly sure what I was expecting but I was searching for more. Have to say though it is a very nice drop and better than anything else on offer at Mac's by light years. Could easily have sat down and whittled away the afternoon soaking it in. And I nearly did...
