I'm going to America soon, San Fransisco and Las Vagas for a few days, anyone been round these parts and have some good beer experiences they'd care to impart? Or any must try beers I should have while there?
Well, I haven't been to SF for almost 2 years now, but I did live there for 16 years so I have a couple recommendations.
* The 21st Amendment - great pub in SF
* SF Brewing company - they are right downtown. good beer, the food is ok.
* Marin Brewing - assuming you will have a car. Marin is nice (across the gg bridge, not too far from San Quentin!)
Now - go across the bay to Oakland and Berkeley and you have Pacific Brewing in downtown Oakland- they brew their own (grey whale is very nice) and in Berkeley there is Triple Rock near campus and then downtown is Jupiter (they have a great selection of craft brews). Stay away from Pyramid. They suck.
Thanks all for your help, we are in SF now enjoying great weather and amazing beer. The beers here are very hoppy and fresh, and seem to have a toasty graininess which balances out the beer nicely. It's awesome to try the beers Jamil bangs on about on tap and fresh
Yeah bro just moved to Welly from the Bay Area four months ago. So SF there are five Toronado, Magnolia BrewPub, The Monks Kettle, 21st Amendment Brewery, and Rogue Brewpub. In Oakland there is The Trappist, and Cato's Ale House. I miss all of them very much great folks and beer. Vegas never been.
