50L kegs instead of corney kegs

I have a few 50L kegs have D Type  fittings can you just raise the carb on the fitting to 45psi for a few days then back off to serving pressue?    will a d type work like this, it looks solid  but i can see a pressure relief unless I put a T tap into the gas hose?

The keg I just checked has a max working pressure of 3 bar / 43 psi.
It would most likely handle a fair bit more than that but I personally wouldn't push it even to the max. Why so high anyway? 30 psi seems enough?

my regs go higher, i just set them on max for carb for 24-48 hours then around 10-12 psi, no reason they are way better built then any of my corny kegs...

Properly constructed kegs german , spanish etc with pressure/material/foodgrade markings on them are fine at the max working pressure if you really must but be sure you are using a good quality reg with a known to be good pressure gauge and check there is no physical damage to the keg - an good quality inline PRV would also be good insurance.

Chinese or other cheap kegs (normally indentified by the complete absence of the above mentioned markings) or damaged kegs please please for your (& others around)personal safety do not try this - I would not even think about using these over serving pressure let alone at force carb pressures.

Yup, I'd second the value of a PRV with any keg for a bit of peace of mind. A lot of accidents are caused by pressure due to an infected beer or an incomplete fermentation.
