Funny that you are brewing a Landlord - I'm doing one 2morrow! I too have an OG of 1043, but IBU of 35. I have Fuggle to bitter, Kent for 45 (1oz) and Styrian at 5min (one ounce). It is 100% Golden Promise pale with caramel added to the boil for colour. We can exchange landlords next month, Martin.

All my SMaSH brews are aimed at 30 IBU.
This was on Stu's recommendation (I think) so that you can get a good feel for the bitterness that the hops bring to the beer. I tasted a hydrometer sample and the bitterness was prominent but not too much.
Well, this is basically what I brewed today. The only change was to drop the 60 minute addition to 25g of Styrians. The wort is chilling now and I'll be pitching the yeast shortly. OG was on-track going into the boil, I'll be interested to see if it's OK at pitching time.
Looking forward to tasting this one, and I need it too - think my keg of best bitter will blow dry in the next day or two.
I was thinking of placing the $500 to see if I'd get out bid! Would have been happy either way - the finance manager wouldn't though! Congrats on the kit Stu... Jellous much mate???
