Yep, there's 17% in "Bean Counter". Not acrid at all, lovely complex toasted notes. Brown Malt is my friend.
I recall hearing the Meantime Porter having obscene amounts of Brown malt as well.

So this brew goes down tommorow. My first all grain. Pretty excited about it to be honest haha.

Looks good to me. Personally I like my hopping late, and would be inclined to put the 30 min hops at about 15 min and the 15 at about 5 or so. This would drop your calculated IBU by a bit, but is likely to give you more fresh hop flavour and aroma. I am sure it will be great beer the way you have it too tho!

Looks good mate, a fairly aggressively hopped APA by the looks of it. I'm doing a couple of APA's myself this weekend but on the less hoppy side of the scale. Keen to swap a couple of bottles once done? 

So attempting a double brew weekend tomorrow and Sunday. I toasted some pale malt in the oven a couple of weeks back, 1 batch was done dry the other wet. Hoping for something along the lines of a biscuit/victory type malt. So, keen to see how it comes out in a beer I made up an APA recipe on the lighter, less hoppy side of things to hopefully allow the home toasted malt to come through. Ideally I'd like to get into doing this a bit more so I really hope the flavour is noticeable.

@ Ralph I did have 5 min additions in my original recipe I made. I might take ya advise on that and drop the 30 to 15. And 15 to 5. Because the hops smell so good I can almost taste them haha.

@ JackoNZ. Hopefully not too aggressive! Haha nah im not afraid of the hops. Yeah I'll be keen to swap a couple of bottles, thats if it turns out alright Lol. Your recipe looks semi similar to mine, hop wise that is so id be interested to try it. I was going to use simcoe in my recipe but couldn't get it anywhere, that falconers flight is my substitute. Smells pretty damn good too.

How did your brew day turn out RopenutS? Did you move your hop additions in the end?

I've brewed a single hop pale ale with Kohatu - wasn't initally that impresssed but had one tonight with a bit of age on it and really enjoyed. It's somewhat earthy like Pacific Gem but with more, deep, citrus fruit. That said, hopping rate was modest as I only had 100 gms. I'm brewing a single hop lager with Wai-iti in the weekend. Tasted a friends brew with this and it's a great tasting hop - fresh and lively, more 'New World' than Kohatu. Not sure they will compliment each other but give it a go. I'd split the Wai-iti half at 5, half at zero.

Boiling up a Mild as I type.

Looking for a brown, malty easy drinker to go with my current pale hoppy easy drinker.
