You'll lose more with the stocking, plus it's just another thing to sanitise. On the positive side, easier to get the hops back out when you're done. I'd still go no sock and rely on fining to clean up any floaties...

Ok, so pellets straight in primary then.
Suggestions - day three, day four - 50gm for the 1.050 ?
After high krausen subsides... which depends on what sort of beer it is and how long you are fermenting for. Would normally be 48-72hrs for my ferments.
Does your bro like hoppy beers?
I would another 20 - 30gms! That would get you to 4g/litre
Not that I would ever discourage more dryhopping but if your worried about volume losses you may loose a little more with cones than you would with pellets in my experience.
But as long as you can fill the keg whos counting!
Go with the extra 20-30gms dry hop. If you find it's 'too hoppy' we'll just have to help you empty the keg to make room for a mild ;-)

I was just kidding about the cones, I have plenty of pellets, I'll whop another 50gm in there

I've done my dash with the regular mild recipe - I really want to try Stu's suggestion of the Porter recipe at mild gravity with the big hops.
i tried it with the kid choc recipe but I didn't like the hops vs brown malt - i'm over brown malt for now.

Ok, I added another 35gm, that was the end of the bag - couldn't be bothered rootling in the freezer for the other bag - and I reckoned 85gm / 20 litres / 1.050 was probably about right and poured another beer

So I tried a hydrometer sample
1050 to 1012 and a little sweet - unexpectedly - with a nice mat of hops sitting on top
I'll leave it a couple more days and sample again.
Then drop the temperature and see if those hops will drop out
