I've had a few bad uns in the past but everything i've had lately has 'restored the faith' D4, cock and bull and on flagon at regionals has been great, actually saved me from bad situations at xmas....so i just wanted to throw some 'mad props' at Luke and apologise for negative feedback in the past!

Yeaaaahhhh!!!! About time you threw some md props at Ralph, I reckon. He'll be glad to see the back o' you in '08.....
I like the oyster stout and have been thinking about trying the plum beer.....
Ah Seamus. Quick to anger, sincere in repentance! I doubt there's a brewer alive who'd want you to say their beer was good when it's actually bad. Keep calling it as you see it mate. I'm still convinced you have the worst luck with some of the bad 'uns you get though. I'm hardly ever burned by bad NZ brews.

I'll second the urge to try the plum beer though. I had a Czech one at a beer festival in England, and it was awesome. I'd been planning on brewing a plum porter for a while now, and now my mates will think I'm nicking inspiration. ;)
The three boys beer is a long way from a Porter... it'll surprise the bejeezuz out of you.
I do have bad luck....i had a oxidised biman the other day! WTF! for gods sake!!!!
nah not really quick to anger, quick to irritation but it takes me repeated 'bad uns' to get really pissed off....i hate drain pours and i refuse to waste taste buds on rubbish.

there's a couple of beers i want to try, boysenbeery and wild plum ale
So when and where have you been having bad EPIC's and why is this the first I have heard of it?
Nice one Luke - a direct response sure beats a "take down request" ;-)
over recent times I’ve had bad pints at the malthouse, D4 and the cock and bull, bad flagons from Cock and Bull and Regional wines, I’ve had bad 330ml bottles from regional wines and New world supermarkets and one bad 500ml from New world....When i say bad i don't mean insanely flawed or shockingly undrinkable, just a really disappointing lack of flavour/aroma/ body that sort of thing....
Why haven't i complained....i guess i haven't had much luck in the past with other brewers and if a beer is tasting different to what i like and i don't like it as much anymore there's not a hell of a lot i can do about it apart from find something else to drink. Fortunately Mr McGill kept on assuring me that I’m just unlucky enough to get old stock or stuff that hasn't been kept right so i persevere and this is the outcome :0)
I'd appreciate feedback any time you have a bad experience so that I can look into it straight away and remedy any problems out there. It is always a concern once you sell your beer and hand over the responsibility of having someone else look after it and care for it until it is drunk.

I must say I am shocked though that you have had bad experiences at all of these places in all of these formats (keg, flagon, 330 and 500ml).

Also if you could elaborate on what you mean by bad.

A disappointing lack of flavour/aroma/body is nearly as valuable to me as reading a Kerry Tyack beer review.

Maybe if you give me a timeframe I can try and pinpoint it to a batch
Fair enough, i've had a trawl through the forum because i seem to remember mentioning it when i bought the 500ml bottle (i think i've got the bottle at home still, i'll have a look at it tonight)

Also did a ratebeer rerate at the same time and wrote
Re-rated 31/10 after quite a few ’bad-uns’ i thought i’d get a really fresh bottle and give this a good re-rating....great nose! aroma is everything i’d want from this style of beer it’s a pity that the great citrus aromas don’t follow through to the flavour as much as they could, seems to suffer from a thin salty body that perhaps can’t support the hop flavours, the finish is bitter and slightly acrid/metallic. All in all a beer that smells great and looks great but isn’t supported by great flavours.

The ones that i've had lately seem to have a much better flavour profile and body
Luke

The 500ml bottle i had has the expiry 30/09/09 B0316 11:5....something on it
Cool, I'll hit the library stock and give it a try. I guess luckily all that stock has been long sold.
