I have a couple of queries on the set up of a 10 tip burner.

I've purchased a 10 tip burner from BeerBelly:

I'm planning to run it in a configuration like the image below/attached.

  1. Does anyone have any recommendations for sourcing brass gas fittings in Auckland? I've tried Auckland Engineering Supplies in town with no luck.
  2. Can anyone comment on the appropriateness of a std BBQ regulator for running a 10 tip burner?  I'll be producing 50L batches (kettle is 450 diameter). Planning on using the inline brass valve to throttle back when a solid boil has been achieved, or increase the heat output for DMS cycles.

Cheers, Matt.

Sorry can't help with your questions - just curious how much did shipping cost?

Hi Matthew, I don't recall the shipping price, I think it was in the region of NZD75-80 landed in NZ and took close to three weeks.  Interestingly, my first burner sent ended up with one of the burner tips snapped off in the post, after some negotiating I received a second burner at a good discount (shipping was uninsured).   If you feel you could live with 9 tips rather than 10 then let me know as it's just gathering dust at the moment.

Re: Selling the '9-tip' burner ... How much were you thinking of?

1 Brass fittings  -    Mastertrade in cook st   or there is a place on lunn ave just east of mitre 10 that has a bathroom showroom in front trade warehouse behind, they have brass as do the plumbing shop on quarry side...  guys in town often give me trade.

2 I would think that this would be required to reach full BTU if not even bigger....

Cheers Peter, I'll check out mastertrade - I have heard of the place on Lunn Ave also, I just struggle to get there during opening hours.

Lots of gas fittings (brass, stainless, plastic etc) plus hoses of various descriptions at 121 Marine. 3/20 Constellation Drive, Mairangi Bay. Next to McD's
