Etch O Sketch.
Did a little etching last night in my HLT, worked out pretty good.
Despite the blurry shit photo it's actually crisp and neat. Each line is an exact 1mm tall rectangle.
The only thing is it's a pretty light etch, whether that's because of the nature of these cheap shitty pots, or whether my 9 volt battery was a bit flat, or whether I didn't add enough salt to my vinegar solution, who knows.
But it worked and it's legible. I'm pretty happy with it. So much for 50L pots though, the markings went up to 50 but the pot stops at 45L.
Just etched my HLT on Sunday also...have only done the volume lines at this stage, but will get some stencils for the numbers this week. Easy to do and works a charm. Going to do my Kettle this week too.
Where are you guys getting the number stencils from?
A friend of mine has a sticker cutting business, she made me up a stencil that included the lines and numbers. Worked really well, but I had the luxury of being able to custom design it.
pretty sure the Dollar shop should have something that would work.
Thanks guys!
How did you do your Markings Mark? Did you do it via measurement or actually put the water in and mark it.
I used a set of scales. Water is pretty much bang on 1L = 1kg, so just sat my pot on a large set of scales of have for work and added water until I got the correct weight (volume). I have found that a lot of rated volume measurements (pots/measuring jugs) are not always accurate, so weighing is a better option.
Did you just tape up for your marking lines as well? Any chance I could borrow/shoot round and use those scales at some stage?
Yeah I just added a line of tape directly above the water line at each addition (only have done every 5Lts). Then taped it up so that the lines were about an inch wide and 3-4mm thick. You can borrow the scales...although I use them for work almost daily. Have you got any bathroom scales? They will do the same thing...or alternatively we can meet up and you can use them (email me mark.goodin@bevinco.co.nz). Cheers
