To all the keg-heads out there!
I've had trouble sourcing 4mm line for my keg setup, so went and bought a 100m roll :)
It's 4mm ID/ 8mm OD quality NZ beverage tubing. Heat up the end and it pushes tightly onto ball lock disconnects & flare fitting barbs commonly used on Corny kegs.
In the spirit of improving beer dispensing amongst Christchurch home brewers, I'm selling what I don't need (probably about 90m!) at cost - $1.50/m There's a Trade Me guy selling for…

If anyone in or near ChCh needs to insulate their tanks, I can recommend Nexus.
They have Al covered self adhesive foam in 5, 10, 15, 20 & 25mm thicknesses.
I cost me about $25 to do my HLT in 10mm. They also supply high quality Al tape (U.S. made) to finish it off.
Call Linc at Nexus 03 9770090 for price list.

Over the summer I took advantage of my workplace's extensive tool collection and put together couple of gadgets for the brewery, a brewery controller, and a magnetic stir plate.
The brewery controller is basically just a Sestos PID controller and a solid state relay for the HLT, and a switch for my pump. I put it all in a big box so when I want to add something…

An Epic beer label generally has inside jokes, references to popular culture and memes (we like to have fun, be a bit silly, but clever at the same time. Tasting notes aren't always that valuable, as it is so subjective, and you can find plenty of peoples thoughts about taste online on beer rating websites.)

Hi all I start every blog apologizing about how long it has been since my last blog post was written. I guess I could do that again, but lets try and keep it fresh.

Hi all new here, Not sure if anyone is interested but I have 3 bottles of the UK beer Tactical nuclear penguin (32% abv) sitting in the back of my fridge. My dad shipped them over from the UK when he visited a while back and they cost well over $100 bucks each to get here. We tried a couple but were not keen on them so it seemed a waste to drink them if we didnt like them. If anyone is interested in bying one or 2 let me know, its an unusal beer. see brewdog.com

Just picked my first Hop crop! Seven plants took ages to pick so i thought I has a fair few brews sorted, all up about a fish bin full of cones. However after drying it looks like the whole lot will weigh in at a princely 600 grams, Glad I'm not a hop farmer!

The new 3V system I have been building for the last 6 months or so is starting to look OK now I have 2x 100L pots and the KAB4 burner from the states. The burner is rated at 210,000 BTU's so hoping to chop some time off each brew, may lose some arm hair in the process tho! Just got to make a counter flow Chiller , get some valves and thermometers and it ready to go.

I'm looking at creating some recycled tap handles out of old piano keys and lining the fridge with Mahogony.
The bar top is from a coffee table made from Recycled Teak from Indonesian fishing boats.
Cheers Chris for selling me the gear…

Hi. Hoping to buy a couple of hops plants (female) soon. Wondering what is a reliable one, what is good for a dark beer and how do I get a couple of plants.

Greg mentioned in thread on the forum that he thought it might be worth me doing a blog post on brewing a good New Zealand Pale Ale after winning Champion Beer at NHC. So here is my best effort at some tips that I have found useful for brewing good New Zealand Pale Ales, a style I've probably brewed more than anything else. Much of what I have learned is down to knowledge picked up from resources like The Brewing Network, particularly the content from Jamil Zainasheff, Tasty McDole and other…

I'm sure someone may have picked up on this article, regarding the pressure from the Auckland Council on liquor retailers to restrict the sale of single cans or bottles of beer.

Things have been crazily hectic since the weekend, and it’s only just now that we have had a minute to sit down and reflect on the eventualities of last week. It still feels rather dreamlike, and it is still difficult to comprehend that we took out what is one of the most hotly contested categories at the NZ Beer Awards. But we did, and it’s not as though we did it without the help of a few people over the years.
So here’s a shout out to all the people who have made a…

Just want to drop the maddest of mad props out there for Joseph, my good mate, at Liberty Brewing. Not just my good mate but our good mate.
Sine JoKing joined this forum, many years ago, he has been one of the most helpful people on here. He's friendly, he's encouraging, he's a little too self deprecating... but he is the epitome of what this whole homebrewing thing is about. He's about better beer for everyone.
Some of…
