Wow they cleaned up amazingly well!
Hi Barry.
I am really pleased with how the metal components polished up. Pleasantly surprised at how much brass was under years of grime and layers of paint.
I have stripped, straightened and reglued the Oak cabinet side boards. These however were pretty rough and haven't come up as well as I would like. I have since purchased new Oak to make up new sides to pattern.
The replacement parts needed have been ordered through C.F.B.S.
So it's all go on the restoration front - which what I can work out is the easy part - compared to the brewing of the top quality beers suited to the Beer Engine.
Cheers.

Hi Barry.
To be fair I am yet to hear back from CFBS.
A couple of weeks back I sent a request for the parts needed to them via their Web Site - but as yet I have heard nothing back from them.
I sent them a chaser this morning - but again this was via their Web Site - so will try ringing or skyping if I get no response by the end of the week - unless you have a better suggestion as to how to establish contact?
Thanks. John M
Hi Barry,
Thanks for the email address for 'steve'.
I have just sent off an email to him - I will let you know how I get on.
Cheers

Hi Barry,
CFBS advise that unfortunately they no long carry replacement parts for Beer Engines of the older Vintages'. Hopefully they are able to provide manuels or other similar resource documentation with pictures/dimensions that will assist with the reproduction of the drip tray and other parts required.
Thankfully during the dismantling of the Beer Engine all the existing washers and gasket's came off intact so can be refreshed and reused.
'Fosters' the Ship Chandlers at the bottom of town is like a 'blast from the past' and have an amazing array of old and essentric bits and pieces. I'll head in there next week to see what they have hidden away that can be of use.
Cheers

Hi John
Thats a shame as the rest of the engine has come up amazingly - reminds me of rebuilding carburetors seeing all the parts laid out like that...
If you are able to obtain some pictures or drawings I may be able to help out with reproducing/fabricating a drip tray - if you need help that is ;-)
Cheers
Chris
Hi Chris,
Thanks for the offer regarding fabricating the drip tray - it's 'Murphy's Law' - things were going to well for a while there - but now the fun starts with the need to find and/or rebuild parts.
Fingers crossed that CFBS can come up with the goods - and help to enable everything to be kept as original as possible.
Cheers
John M
