i seem to remember it tasting pretty good too, but then if i tasted it now maybe i wouldn't think so.

i did one not so long ago which some days tastes great, some days a little weird. i have another in fermenter right now which i will bottle later this week as it has finished, and i'm hopeful it will be pretty stunning in another month or six weeks, once conditioned and then given some thorough cooling (probably cold condition it for a fortnight). good luck with yours.

recipes can vary a lot for altbier i think - one of mine was all munich, the other was all pils with caramunich and carafa, and the upcoming one will be a mix of these two. i once read a german brewer's comment that it doesn't much matter - use good quality german malts, an altbier yeast and plenty of boiling hops and you will make a good alt. and from my experience of duesseldorf, i'd say he's right, as they vary quite a bit from brewpub to brewpub.
